Which lures work for barracuda from the rocks?
Barracuda in Cyprus hunt fast and shallow, often at first and last light. Long, slim profiles retrieved quickly out-fish fat baitfish shapes most of the year, and lost lures are part of the cost.
What to look for
- Profile
- Slim pencils, needlefish and long minnows in 90–140 mm.
- Retrieve
- Fast and steady, with occasional sharp twitches.
- Leader
- Heavy fluorocarbon holds most fish; wire cuts bite-offs but also bites.
- Hooks
- Upgrade to strong salt-rated trebles or singles before the first session.
