What is PE3 braid and when should I use it?
PE ratings describe line diameter, not strength. PE3 sits around 0.28 mm and typically 20–23 kg, which is the standard shore jigging mainline in Cyprus when amberjack are the target and rocks are the risk.
What to look for
- When to use PE3
- Heavy metals, rough ground and fish you have to stop.
- When PE2 is enough
- Lighter spinning, cleaner ground, longer casts.
- Leader
- Fluorocarbon around 60–80 lb, three to four rod lengths for rock abrasion.
- Knot
- An FG knot passes the guides cleanly and keeps casting distance.
